Happy Monday Green Spa-ers,
We were excited to see last evening at The Grammy Awards 2014 that Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Chrissy Teigen all went for natural looks for evening! We’re hosting a Champagne Make-up Workshop February 7th 2014, where we’ll have our experts on hand to recreate these looks for you. Want Katy’s, Chrissy’s, and Taylor’s look? You got it. Anyone else? We can do it! We’re most proud of using all natural brands sans chemicals and we’re even more excited of our access to the area’s best make-up artists. We celebrate natural make-up looks, and can make you appear like you’re barely wearing any, all while enhancing your real-life beauty.
Also, In honor of our Sweet 16 anniversary in March, we’re doing make-up workshops where we start by getting teens to learn the best inside make-up tricks from the get-go. Let’s skip the struggle of mismatching colors and tones and go straight to The Green Spa where we will color match your teen (and you too!).
We’ve got three 2014 Trends you as a spa-lover need to be on top of:
1. WIRED WELLNESS.
The whole point of a spa experience is to sit back, relax and let go. But technology has given us the ability to enhance our spa experiences by allowing us to quickly download an app and book an appointment for a massage, yoga glass, or facial. Also, Fitbits and apps like “Map My Run” have become the way for outdoor workouts to be easy to manage from your iPhone or Android. We encourage you too book online, use fitness apps and especially use applications that help walk you through meditation. See, technology does help you decompress.
Essential oils have been used by the ancient Egyptians and Chinese for religious ceremonies, cosmetic purposes, and medicinal practices. It’s exciting news that it’s making a swift comeback and many spas in 2014 are going to start using essential oils for sleep therapy, mood enhancers and a way to improve your everyday thinking processes. The Green Spa is hosting an Essential Oil class in February where you’ll learn about the various uses and health benefits. We hope you can join us!
3. Natural Beauty
Here at the Green Spa we’re especially excited about how social media has enhanced and brought about an acceptance of natural beauty. “The selfie” has been key in promoting toned down make-up and natural every day looks. At the Green Spa we were pioneers of organic make-up, selling brands like Jane Iredale and Eminence. We promote natural colors that bring your inner beauty out. in 2014, spas are catching on and many clients are bringing in pictures their friends or celebs posted on Instagram and asking spa professionals to duplicate the au natural! Very exciting news.
Stay tuned and we’ll keep you in the loop on the latest!
So many times we find ourselves coming back from vacation wishing we could maintain ‘the zen life’. You can! It’s all about making yourself take a time out. Try to let go of what’s blocking you. You’ll be more productive and happier if you take time for yourself. Think about how you want to spend that time. Is it taking 30 minutes before bed, where you draw a bubble bath? Or do you download the latest app on your mobile device that walks you through how to meditate. Is it more relaxing for you to stream Netflix and have a glass of wine? Pick your zen and force yourself to walk towards it. You will start to see how taking 30 minutes or an hour each day to meditate, drink green tea, listen to music, and laugh will enhance your appearance and enable you to deal with the stresses that come your way from the day-to-day hustle.
Start today by picking your favorite moment from the last vacation you took. For us, we really enjoyed sipping green tea and sticking to our yoga practice. Although we’re back in a dreary New York City January where it rains each day, we’ve made it a point to book an hour of yoga three times a week. So far, so good!
What does bringing the vacation to you mean? We’d love you to share your moments and how you’re making it a priority to continue them during your busy week.
British beauty, Thandie Newton
, best known for her roles in The Pursuit of Happiness, Mission: Impossible II and Crash
has launched an amazing Beauty Blog with her makeup artist and friend, Kay Montano. According to the two gorgeous ladies, the blog (called Thandie Kay),
is all about “liberation, celebration and living life to the fullest”.In one of their recent articles, Thandie shared her life-long issues with acne, and her favorite products to combat blemishes. She specifically loves our products because she is blessed with “more melanin” and that means she’s more prone to hyperpigmentation and dark spots left by pimples.
Here’s what Thandie recommends:
“For exfoliation on my face I use the gorgeous ‘Eminence Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant’ – completely natural and organic, smells divine and is gentle enough (but properly effective) to use morning and night… After that I use Eminence ‘Bright Skin Licorice Root Booster-Serum’. This stuff rocks! The element found in most skin ‘lighteners’ is hydroquinone, and the good people at Eminence have discovered that this property occurs naturally in stone crop and licorice root. Bingo.”
