Strawberries-01

Strawberries – not only are they a tasty treat, these sweet, red berries also boast countless benefits for your overall health and complexion.

Small but mighty, strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C, flavonoids and ellagic acid which all combine to form the ultimate force against aging skinSmall but mighty, strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C, flavonoids and ellagic acid which all combine to form the ultimate force against aging skin. In addition to promoting a bright and youthful appearance, strawberries also help improve the skin’s texture, softness and even protect against free-radical damage caused by harmful UV rays (Boldsky.com).

Given the infinite number of skin benefits, it’s no wonder why strawberries can be found in a number of your go-to Éminence products (Strawberry Rhubarb Masque anyone?). There’s also no surprise that makeup artists, beauty editors and skin care experts alike are as smitten by strawberries as we are.  Without further ado – here’ s what the press has to say about this “berry good” skin care ingredient:

Makeup Artist Product Pick: Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant

Pati Dubroff, makeup artist to the stars (including Jessica Biel, Naomi Watts, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Bosworth), is a huge fan of glowing, healthy skin and Éminence products:

Éminence utilizes the best of nature, things that really nourish you on the inside but also so nourishing for the skin.

Beauty Editor Product Pick: Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum

Popular lifestyle magazine Real Simple is raving about the timeless benefits of farm-to-face skin care and is encouraging their readers to “feel good about the all-natural ingredients seeping into your skin.” You can’t get more natural than strawberries, which is exactly why our Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum is at the top of Real Simple’s list of farm-to-table beauty essentials:

Keep it at your desk and apply a thin layer a few times a day (no more than three), and feel good knowing it contains wholesome ingredients, like strawberry, rhubarb, and honey.“For those with sensitive skin or major allergies, this nut- and soy-free serum will rehydrate skin that’s been dried out by cold weather. Keep it at your desk and apply a thin layer a few times a day (no more than three), and feel good knowing it contains wholesome ingredients, like strawberry, rhubarb, and honey.

1 Thing-01

Take a look around – do you spot at least one person in your vicinity hunched over their smartphone? Probably. Smartphones are everywhere and the widespread use is causing a malady called “tech neck” with alarming (and aging) changes to our face, body and skin. Here’s everything you need to know about tech neck symptoms and what you can do about it:

ACHES AND PAINS

According to Digital Trends, Americans use their phones for an astounding 4.7 hours a day. When you spend that amount of time each day peering downwards at a screen, don’t be surprised to feel neck and shoulder pain beyond what an average person your age should be feeling. When your spine is in a neutral position, the head usually weighs just 10 pounds. Tilt your head downwards and your spine, muscles and nerves will need to support 60 pounds of weight, causing great strain to several areas of your body (WebMD).

LINES AND WRINKLES

Spending hours each day texting emojis?  The bad news is that while you’re sending heart symbols and smiley faces, you’re potentially damaging the quality of your skin at the same time. With your head tilted downward, the angle of the neck constantly creases the neck skin (Harper’s Bazaar). Since the skin in the neck area is already especially thin, the folding action increases the visible signs of aging with “tech neck wrinkles.”

POOR POSTURE

Remember when your mom warned you not to make an ugly face because it’ll freeze that way? Unfortunately, she was kind of right about that. The worst thing about tech neck is that it could be permanent. Medical experts find that the posture you adopt when using the smartphone can change your body. The action of looking down for hours can actually cause the neck muscles to shorten and the shoulder muscles to round, leading to a completely changed and aged-looking posture.

Here are some “tech neck solutions” for battling these unpleasant symptoms :

1. LIFT YOUR PHONE
Instead of huddling over your screen, make sure that you lift your phone up to your face. The different positioning of the screen will ensure that you’re not bending your neck in a harmful or damaging way.

2. TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN AT HOME
Skin in the neck area is incredibly delicate. Don’t forget to hydrate and nourish this layer of skin to keep it elastic and less prone to lines and wrinkles. Our Monoi Age Corrective Night Cream For Face & Neck not only features the incredible monoi ingredient, it’s especially formulated to nurture this area and promote beautiful and youthful skin.

 3. TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN AT THE SPA
Sometimes you need to enlist a professional to stop skin issues like encroaching tech neck. Many of our spa partners offer organic skin care services that include the fragile neck area, like the following:

Le Rêve Organic Day Spa and Boutique in Santa Barbara offers their signature Age-Defying Facial which is designed to promote a youthful-looking complexion. Using our Yam & Pumpkin Enzyme Peel as well as other Éminence products, the treatment not only focuses on the eye, lip and decolleté areas but also the neck. By providing care for the delicate neck area, the facial targets the visible signs of aging.

O.liv Body Bar in Nashville offers an amazing package called the HOT BOD D.TOX Package for Bod, Face and Feet. Not only can you enjoy a deep cleansing facial with the Pear and Poppy Seed Microderm Polisher and an Éminence organic peel, you will also sink into bliss with an amazing neck massage.

The Burke Williams group of spas in California is another Éminence spa partner that tackles tech neck. They have incorporated an enhancement to combat all tech-related aches and pains called the Dot.com Enhancement. The massage enhancement is described as the ultimate solution to living with technology (LNE & Spa).

Rosehip-01

Admit it, we’re all looking for miracle ingredients in our skin care. You know what we’re talking about: the Holy Grail skin care element with properties that are not only powerful but totally unique. Maybe not granting the eternal youth that the Holy Grail of legend promises, but something pretty darn close in terms of anti-aging.

If you’re serious about the quest in finding skin care ingredients that really work, we point you in the direction of our new Rosehip Triple C+E Firming Oil lauded by Pop Sugar as a beauty product you need. Besides the component of rosehip seed oil and its benefits, this facial oil is also powered by several key ingredients that will completely surprise you with their unusual qualities and potency. We’re known for innovation – here’s your chance to find out more about our carefully selected – and dare we say, miraculous –  ingredients:

1. MILK THISTLE

This plant not only maintains hydration and prevents the signs of aging, it can literally bring you back from the brink of death. Used for over 2000 years, the milk thistle is the traditional antidote for mushroom poison – take milk thistle extract within 10 minutes of ingesting poisonous mushrooms and it will counteract their deadly effects completely.

2. OIL-BASED VITAMIN C

A key ingredient in the Rosehip Triple C+E Firming Oil, oil-based vitamin C changes the game. Most skin care products contain water-based vitamin C that not only deteriorates easily but potentially irritates the skin. Our oil-based vitamin C not only avoids these drawbacks but is also more easily absorbed by the skin.

3. JOJOBA OIL

The surprising fact about jojoba oil is that it’s not an oil! Jojoba oil is actually a liquid wax and it’s the waxy property that allows it to imitate human sebum so closely. Also, because the ingredient is not actually an oil means that it doesn’t go rancid (The Love Vitamin).

4. SEA BUCKTHORN OIL

The miracle status for sea buckthorn berries could originate from the fact that they contain vitamins C, E and A and in fact, the fruit contains higher vitamin content than any other cultivated fruit or vegetable. Packed full of essential fatty acids, sea buckthorn is also anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial, providing help in pain relief and even tissue regeneration. One of the most famous users of sea buckthorn oil is the Russian space agency. They used this amazing ingredient to protect their cosmonauts’ skin in outer space and even in recovery from radiation exposure (Alive).

Valentines-01

Nothing says “Happy Valentine’s Day” more than strawberries, chocolate & roses. Although you may love to shower your sweetheart with the usual sweet and floral luxuries, why not add a little creative twist to those old Valentine standards?

Whether you’re treating a spouse, parent, partner, friend (or even yourself!), we have a selection of delectable skin care surprises for every Valentine on your list.

The Floral valentine

When it comes to Valentine’s Day, you can’t go wrong with roses. As a skin care ingredient, this robust flower works wonders for your complexion. Rosehip oil in particular (which comes from the fruit of the rose plant) is packed full of antioxidant vitamin C which improves hydration in the skin while reducing the appearance of fine lines and dark spots. As a key ingredient in our Rosehip Triple C+E Firming Serum, this magical oil also helps combat skin problems caused by glycation – good news for those with a sweet tooth.

“After consuming all those sweets … resolve to pamper your complexion with this serum. It fights signs of glycation, breakdown … caused by sugar in the bloodstream. The gentle, nongreasy formula is effective on all skin types, even those with rosacea.” – PopSugar

To add to our rosy Valentine’s Day gift ideas, our Sweet Red Rose Treatment is another one of our floral favorites and warrants 5 stars in our customer reviews:

“LOVE. My favorite Éminence product. The aroma is luscious. And my skin really appreciates this treatment masque and its healthy ingredients. Knowing I am applying food to my skin is a priority when purchasing skin care products.” – Malka, Customer Review

The Sweet Valentine

Indulge in dessert-like ingredients for Valentine’s without having to count calories. Here are a few sweet product selections recommended by us, our customers and beauty editors.

Chocolate

Did you know that the scent of chocolate can invoke feelings of happiness? It’s true! According to science, “Chocolate stimulates the release of endorphins, natural hormones produced by the brain, that generates feelings of pleasure and promotes a sense of wellbeing” (Medical Wellness Association). Bring happiness this Valentine’s Day with our Chocolate Mousse Hydration Masque. Infused with a healthy dose of antioxidant-rich cocoa, macadamia, almond and jojoba oils, this  mask delights the senses and leaves the skin looking smooth, hydrated and youthful.

Strawberries

Not only are these red berries a tasty and romantic treat, they’re also rich in vitamins and nutrients that are incredibly beneficial to the skin. Real Simple Magazine recommends our Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum:

“For those with sensitive skin or major allergies, this nut- and soy-free serum will rehydrate skin that’s been dried out by cold weather. Keep it at your desk and apply a thin layer a few times a day (no more than three), and feel good knowing it contains wholesome ingredients, like strawberry, rhubarb, and honey.” Real Simple Magazine

Cinnamon

Finally, what’s Valentine’s Day without kissable lips? Our customers love our Cinnamon Kiss Lip Plumper. This delicious gloss is another crowd favorite that naturally plumps the lips, creating a healthy shine and a luscious kissable pout.

Hands down the best thing I’ve ever had on my lips. This lip gloss truly does make your lips more plump and moisturizes them thoroughly. Love the fact it is cinnamon, unique touch. Wear it every day and couldn’t be happier with the results. The fact that this product is all natural is fantastic, you won’t regret buying it.” – Chloe, Customer Review

3 Oils-01

Oils. If using them on your face still frightens you with visions of shiny foreheads and breakouts, you need to get versed on the key ingredients in our new vitamin C-packed Rosehip Triple C+E Firming Oil. The triple threat of sea buckthorn, jojoba and rosehip oils is loaded with vitamins, nutrition and incredible benefits for the skin.

Here’s a breakdown on what these miracle oils can do for your face:

1. ROSEHIP OIL

A beauty secret for celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Middleton, this effective oil is incredibly rich in vitamin C (Fox News). And, as we’ve mentioned before in this blog, vitamin C is key for superstar skin.

With its high content of the antioxidant vitamin C, rosehip oil for the face protects the skin from aging effects. As an antioxidant, this vitamin fights free radicals – unstable molecules with a missing electron that goes around “stealing” electrons. When free radicals steal electrons from proteins like collagen, the process creates damage called oxidation which ages the skin. Antioxidants like vitamin C save the day by donating electrons to these greedy free radicals and stopping the oxidation process. With its high content of the antioxidant vitamin C, rosehip oil for the face protects the skin from aging effects.

On top of its antioxidant superpowers, rosehip oil also hydrates powerfully, combats dark spots, reduces fine lines and works against inflammation. In fact, this oil is so versatile, it was a common remedy used by ancient Egyptians, Mayans and native Americans (Huffington Post).

Traditionally used for healing wounds and dry skin, this oil is another incredible source of vitamin C.

2. SEA BUCKTHORN OIL

Long used in Russia and Eastern Europe as protection against their cold, biting climates, sea buckthorn oil only recently gained popularity in the rest of the world (XOVain). Traditionally used for healing wounds and dry skin, this oil is another incredible source of vitamin C. Additional benefits come from a long list of star ingredients including vitamins A, E, beta carotene, omega 3 fatty acids and minerals. Like rosehip oil, sea buckthorn oil and its vitamin C content prevents the look of aging and keeps skin firm and elastic.

3. JOJOBA OIL

This oil also contains a bundle of beneficial ingredients including vitamin B complex, copper, zinc, selenium and the standout vitamin E. The superstar benefit in jojoba oil, though, is its ability to mimic your body’s natural oils. Goodbye, shiny foreheads! Jojoba oil communicates to your skin that is sufficiently hydrated and doesn’t need to produce more sebum. This effect balances oil production and halts the generation of too much oil on your complexion (Wellness Today).
