You don’t have to stress about cracked heels on your feet this spring. Try this nourishing foot mask made with Bergamot essential oil (and other feet-friendly ingredients) for nourished and beautiful feet.

Why use a foot mask? Since our feet have the most pores per square inch than any other area of the body, it is important to remember to treat the feet too! What you put on the feet will absorb into the rest of the body, so do your best to gather high quality, organic ingredients for this foot mask.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup organic Greek yogurt

2 tablespoons organic raw honey

2 splashes doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil

1 stalk organic celery

6 drops Bergamot essential oil

Notes about ingredients used:

  • The probiotics in Greek yogurt help deliver beneficial proteins and the lactic acid it contains rids the surface of old cells, making way for radiant, fresh skin.
  • Celery is rich in zinc, which helps to repair dry, cracked skin. Celery also carries vitamins and is cleansing and detoxifying.
  • Raw honey is a natural humectant, contains beneficial enzymes and antioxidants, and has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Bergamot essential oil is calming and soothing to the skin.

Directions:

  1. Grate stalk of celery and drain excess moisture in strainer or with paper towel.
  2. Add celery and remaining ingredients to food processor or blender.
  3. Blend until smooth.
  4. Ready a wet washcloth or sit by tub.
  5. Apply mask immediately to entire foot with fingers or brush.
  6. Let sit 15–20 minutes while enjoying mask’s cooling sensation and the calming effects of Bergamot essential oil.
  7. Rinse off and enjoy your nourished and moisturized feet.

Shield your strands with a heat protectant spray made with Clary Sage and Geranium essential oils. Easy to make, this DIY spray will have your hair feeling full and healthy.
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon Fractionated Coconut Oil
1 tablespoon sweet almond oil
2 teaspoons doTERRA® Salon Essential Smoothing Conditioner
1 cup water
5 drops Clary Sage essential oil
5 drops Geranium essential oil
Small spray bottle
Directions:

  1. Pour half of water into spray bottle.
  2. Add Fractionated Coconut Oil, sweet almond oil, conditioner, and essential oils into bottle.
  3. Add remaining water and shake well.
  4. To use, apply one spritz to hair and work it through until hair is lightly coated. Style as normal.

Even if you don’t consider yourself a crafty person, you will be surprised at how easy it is to make your own. No matter your skill level, you will be able to find a tutorial that’s right for you. Have fun!

ADVANCED LEVEL
Materials Needed:
½ yard flannel or cotton cut into two 8 x 20 inch pieces.
6 cups flaxseed or rice
Sewing machine
doTERRA essential oil(s)
Directions:
  1. Cut fabric into two 8 x 20 inch pieces.
  2. Place right sides (pretty sides) together and pin along edges.
  3. With right sides together, sew ¼” seam all the way around the fabric leaving a three-inch opening on a short end and turn right sides out.
  4. Divide the length of the fabric into four equal sections and mark with a fabric marker.
  5. Loosely fill the first quarter with two cups of rice or flax seeds.
  6. Sew on marked line. Repeat until all four sections are filled.
  7. Sew opening closed and you’re done.
  8. To use, microwave for two to three minutes and add 2 drops of essential oil on the outer fabric.
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Materials Needed:
Kitchen Towel
6 cups flaxseed or rice
Sewing Machine
doTERRA  Essential Oil(s)
Directions:
  1. Fold towel in half longways (hot-dog style).
  2. Sew around the edges leaving a three-inch opening. Turn right side out.
  3. Loosely fill with flax seeds or rice.
  4. Sew opening closed and you’re done.
  5. To use, microwave for two to three minutes and add 2 drops of essential oil on the outer fabric.
BEGINNER LEVEL
Materials Needed:
Tube or dress sock
3 cups flaxseed or rice
doTERRA essential oil(s)
Directions:
  1. Pour flaxseed or rice into sock.
  2. Tie a knot and you’re done.
  3. To use, place in microwave for 2-3 minutes and then add 2 drops essential oil.
Tips:
  • If you smell burning while microwaving your heating pad, you are microwaving it too long. Try cutting down the heating time or lowering the power setting to 50%.
  • Use the leftover fabric to make hand warmers.
  • Homemade heating pads make great gifts. Give a heating pad with a bottle of your favorite doTERRA essential oil to friends and loved ones for a practical gift they are sure to love!
Editors Note: If you don’t have a microwave, you can heat your heating pad by putting it in an oven-safe dish and heating it in the oven at 150 degrees for 15 minutes. Remember to set a timer and to frequently check your heating pad to make sure it doesn’t get too hot and become a fire hazard.
CAUTION: The heating pad will be very warm and can burn you if you heat it for too long. Start by putting your heating bag in the microwave for 1 minute, and then increase by 30 second increments until you have achieved your desired temperature. If you accidentally heat it for too long, let it rest until it becomes cooler. You might also want to place a wash cloth or towel against your skin to act as a barrier and to ensure you don’t get burned in case you heat it more than you intended.

This doTERRA On Guard hand cleansing spray is an easy and convenient way to clean your hands. Keep a bottle in your purse, car, or office for any time you need it.
 
Ingredients:
4 ounce spray bottle, glass
1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
20 drops doTERRA On Guard Protective Blend
Water
 

Directions:

  1. In spray bottle, combine aloe vera and doTERRA On Guard.
  2. Fill the rest of bottle with water. Shake until combined.
  3. To use, spray on hands and rub together.

peppermint-chocolatesIngredients:
1½ cup organic coconut oil
¼ cup raw honey
3 drops Peppermint essential oil
1 cup dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 candy cane, crushed
Directions:

Whip solid coconut oil, raw honey, and Peppermint essential oil together with hand mixer. The whipped filling should be white and fluffy when complete.

Refrigerate whipped filling for about five minutes.

Use a small scoop or measuring spoon to make small mounds of mint filling. Press down with spoon or finger to make a flat shape.

Place each piece on sheet of parchment paper on top of cookie sheet. Return mints to freezer until ready to coat with chocolate.

In small saucepan or double boiler, gently melt chocolate chips over low heat.

Take mints out of freezer. Use fork to dip each piece in melted chocolate. Place on top of cooling rack.

For holiday fun, sprinkle with crushed candy cane immediately after coating.

Put chocolates back in freezer to cool until hardened. Serve chocolates immediately or store in refrigerator until you are ready to eat them.

Ingredients:
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup Fractionated Coconut Oil
12 drops Peppermint essential oil
Skin safe food coloring

Tip: In place of white sugar, you could use sea salt. In place of Fractionated Coconut oil you could use almond oil, grapeseed oil or olive oil.

Directions:
Combine sugar and Fractionated Coconut Oil in bowl.
Divide mixture equally into two bowls.
In one bowl, add red skin safe food coloring.
Layer red and white scrub to create a ‘candy cane’ effect.

Ingredients:
Round plastic ornaments
1 cup Epsom salt (you may need more or less depending on the size of your ornament)
5-10 drops of your favorite doTERRA essential oil
Directions:

Mix desired amount of Epsom salt in bowl and add some skin-safe colorant if desired.

Add dried herbs or flower petals to mixture for color and added aroma.

Add the essential oils of your choice; mix well.

Add the bath salt to plastic ornaments until full.

Once full, put the top of ornament back on.

When ready to use, add desired amount to warm bath.

Our immune system is an especially important part of overall health.

It is especially important to be mindful of our immune system during transitional times of the year, for instance, the beginning of a new school year when exposure to environmental threats increases. Many lifestyle factors can also weaken our immune system, including stress, lack of sleep, exposure to toxicity, and poor nutrition. Managing each of these areas and adopting a model of consistency that actively supports the immune system is an excellent way to maintain health throughout the year.

It is especially important to be mindful of our immune system during transitional times of the year, for instance, the beginning of a new school year when exposure to germs increases. Many lifestyle factors can also weaken our immune system, including stress, lack of sleep, exposure to toxicity, and poor nutrition. Managing each of these areas and adopting a model of consistency that actively supports the immune system is an excellent way to maintain health throughout the year. Although the physiologic functioning of the immune system is complex, it can be broken down into two main parts–fixed and mobile immunity. Fixed immunity serves as the body’s first line of defense against potential threats by preventing harmful elements from ever entering circulation. This type of immunity is composed of the various protective barriers that exist between the delicate internal environment of the body and the outside environment, (for example, the lungs, gastrointestinal tract, and skin). We also have mobile immunity that is activated if the body does become infected. Specialized immune cells quickly congregate at the site of infection to initiate the healing process. The combined work of both aspects of immunity is critical for staying healthy.

Take proactive measures to enhance the body’s ability to protect itself.

Supporting our immune system can be easily achieved. We should focus on simple approaches that are easy to implement and easy to share with others. Among the greatest benefits of essential oils is that they are simple to apply and offer consistent benefits. Here are steps that can be used to support both fixed and mobile immunity and, in turn, maximize the health of your family during colder months.

Build Healthy Intestinal Flora:

The gastrointestinal (GI) system plays a key role in fixed immunity. If health of the GI tract is compromised, so is the immune system. Ingredients:
1½ cups almond milk
½ cup canned pumpkin puree
½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1–2 drops Clove essential oil
1–2 drops Cinnamon Bark essential oil
½ teaspoon vanilla
Pinch of sea salt, optional
2–3 ounces roughly chopped white chocolate

Directions:
In small sauce pan over medium heat, combine milk, pumpkin, and spices.
Stir constantly until just simmering.
Remove from heat and add chocolate; reserve some for garnish.
Just before serving, top each mug with whipped cream, white chocolate shavings, and sprinkle pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon. Serve immediately.

dōTERRA for Athletes

A university with an NCAA Division I athletic program now works with doTERRA to receive instruction on essential oils and the AromaTouch® Technique. All of their campus training facilities have implemented doTERRA products into their training and physical therapy approaches with impressive results.

The Training

To help the trainers understand the benefits of doTERRA products, the university welcomed more information and training on essential oils. The trainings focused on oils such as Deep Blue®, doTERRA Breathe™, Lemongrass, White Fir, Lavender, and doTERRA On Guard®. doTERRA shared tips with the full staff of athletic trainers about how to dilute for sensitivity with Fractionated Coconut Oil, and the uplifting benefits of diffusing essential oils. The trainers, in particular the Coordinator of Football Performance, were impressed with the idea of first working oils such as White Fir and Lemongrass deep into the tissue with manipulation, and afterward applying the Deep Blue Rub.

Another significant challenge many athletes face is howto manage stress effectively. Balancing the emotional and physical demands of a taxing schedule can be tricky for students. The trainers had a particular interest in learning about the AromaTouch® Hand Technique to help relieve some of that tension. Samples of Lavender and other oils were also given to the trainers. One trainer shared, “Athletes often ask us for something to help them relax and sleep better. It’s not something you might always think about when dealing with sports. And I’m happy to be able to offer an athlete a natural solution first.” As they began to use the products, many trainers came back with questions about how they could better benefit from the products, not only to help those who already had problems, but also how they could use them to keep their athletes healthy.

The Impact

Not surprisingly, Deep Blue® is now a favorite of most of the athletes, from the gymnasts on the balance beam to the football players on the field. The runners especially love Deep Blue rub to quickly get the relief and support they need. They quickly feel the powerful effects of Deep Blue and it helps them to keep going during training and therapy. The head trainer for the track team says, “When they put on the rub, they feel the warmth for a long time. During the initial product training session athletic trainers asked about the benefits of diffusing essential oils aromatically. Tips To Improve Athletic Performance Pre-and Post-Workout

Whatever sport you participate in, trainers recommend using different oils in both pre- and post-workouts.
Before any workout or therapy use Deep Blue rub, and then reapply post workout.
An AromaTouch® Hand Technique treatment before or after an event can help relieve tension.
Pre-workout some runners like to use Peppermint or doTERRA Breathe essential oil for a feeling of clear airways. Apply four to five drops to the chest five minutes before exercise or an event.
For improved confidence, use doTERRA Balance™ essential oil.
Post workout, place four drops of Lemon into 16 ounces of water and drink, then apply Lemongrass to calves.
Also try White Fir, Wintergreen, and Frankincense essential oils during post workout for muscle tension.
