The weather is warming up and prom season is just around the corner!  For a rundown on how to get that “prom perfect” skin, Teen Vogue consulted A-List facialist Joanna Vargas. According to Vargas, if you want “a pristine complexion, you’ll need to plan accordingly!” because “good skin doesn’t happen overnight”. Here’s a couple of great suggestions from Joanna on how to prep your skin for prom.

Four weeks before:

This is the time you should start to be “more diligent with your beauty routine”. “It’s important to be exfoliating at least twice week” Vargus says. Her favorite scrub for teens is our Citrus Exfoliating Face Wash.

One Week Before:

“This is the perfect time for a full body exfoliation to really get glowing”. She recommends our Coconut Sugar Scrub.

Even if prom isn’t your thing – it’s important to remember that a good skincare routine is vital for a healthy, glowing complexion. In the words of Joanna Vargas – “your skin is a reflection of both your mental and physical health as well as the products that you’re putting on and taking off of it on a daily basis”. Now that’s great skin advice!

We could name a thousand things we love about beauty, but one of our favorite things are the trends. In fashion, we often feel like the best trend is no trend at all, but in beauty, experimentation is part of the fun. Sometimes, trying new trends is less about purchasing the newest product formula and more about trying new color combinations. So, let’s talk about five of the coolest color trends for spring 2017.

Spring 2017 Beauty Color Trends

Color Trend #1: Brown

spring 2017 color trends, brown lipstick

How to Wear It: On your lips! It may sound very 90s, but brown lips are back and it looks amazing on every single skin tone. From chocolate to pinky nudes, brown is every where you turn. Our trick to wearing this trend without going overboard is to choose a shade that is slightly darker than your natural lip color.

Try this: Lisa PureMoist Lipstick; add a subtle pink to the lipstick by layering Pink Lip Pencil or Forever Pink Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain underneath it.

Color Trend #2: Peach

spring 2017 color trends, monochromatic peach makeup

How to Wear It: Peach is one of our favorite colors for spring because you can wear it all over your face in both matte and shimmery textures. If you want to try this monochromatic look, we recommend creating a subtle gradient peach eye makeup look and then keep your cheeks and lips natural with just a hint of color.

Try this: Peaches & Cream Bronzer; mix and match the four peachy shades to create different eye makeup and blush looks.

Color Trend #3: Mauve

spring 2017 color trends, mauve eye shadow

How to Wear It:  We like to give our complexion and overall glowy effect by creating a smokey mauve eye makeup look. Create this simple look by applying a light mauve shade to the lid, then adding drama with a darker wine tone or even a deep brown. You can also use a mauve nail polish for the perfect transitional manicure for spring.

Try this: Soft Kiss PurePressed Eye Shadow Triple; this eye shadow trio has all the necessary shades required to create the perfect mauve smokey eye look.

Color Trend #4: Blue

How to Wear It: We’ve said it before, but blue eye makeup is the IT trend this spring, and we promise it can be chic and completely work appropriate. Our favorite way to add a little blue to our look is to line our bottom lash line with blue eyeliner.

Try this: Midnight Blue Eye Pencil; read this blog post to find out how real women wear blue eye makeup.

Color Trend #5: Pink

spring 2017 color trends, draping, blush explosion

How to Wear It: Can you say blush explosion? No, we aren’t talking about the woeful moment when you accidentally drop your blush while multi-tasking in the morning. This is a playful way of describing our favorite spring trend, draping. What is draping? It’s a technique that uses blush instead of bronzer to contour.

Try this: Susan PureMoist Lipstick and Pink Quartz PurePressed Eye Shadow Triple; go all out by pairing your rosy cheeks with a touch of pink to the eye and lips.

You don’t have to stress about cracked heels on your feet this spring. Try this nourishing foot mask made with Bergamot essential oil (and other feet-friendly ingredients) for nourished and beautiful feet.

Why use a foot mask? Since our feet have the most pores per square inch than any other area of the body, it is important to remember to treat the feet too! What you put on the feet will absorb into the rest of the body, so do your best to gather high quality, organic ingredients for this foot mask.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup organic Greek yogurt

2 tablespoons organic raw honey

2 splashes doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil

1 stalk organic celery

6 drops Bergamot essential oil

Notes about ingredients used:

  • The probiotics in Greek yogurt help deliver beneficial proteins and the lactic acid it contains rids the surface of old cells, making way for radiant, fresh skin.
  • Celery is rich in zinc, which helps to repair dry, cracked skin. Celery also carries vitamins and is cleansing and detoxifying.
  • Raw honey is a natural humectant, contains beneficial enzymes and antioxidants, and has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Bergamot essential oil is calming and soothing to the skin.

Directions:

  1. Grate stalk of celery and drain excess moisture in strainer or with paper towel.
  2. Add celery and remaining ingredients to food processor or blender.
  3. Blend until smooth.
  4. Ready a wet washcloth or sit by tub.
  5. Apply mask immediately to entire foot with fingers or brush.
  6. Let sit 15–20 minutes while enjoying mask’s cooling sensation and the calming effects of Bergamot essential oil.
  7. Rinse off and enjoy your nourished and moisturized feet.

With fifteen GRAMMY wins under her belt, a recurring spot on TV’s hottest talent show and a trending #NoMakeup movement, Alicia Keys is at the top of her game. We were thrilled to discover Éminence is the key to keeping Alicia’s skin sparkling – and even more excited to hear she has added another one of our results-driven products to her coveted skin care routine.

When Alicia first revealed her fresh-faced complexion, we weren’t alone in clamoring for her skin care secrets. Into The Gloss, ELLE, W Magazine, PopSugar and SELF are just a few high profile publications that have featured the natural beauty’s favorite products. Most recently, Allure got the scoop on what Alicia’s makeup artist, Dotti, uses to give the star her radiant glow, saying “They make us soft. They make us glow. They promise beauty, and boy, do they deliver. But what our favorite products (or, in this case, Keys’) do best: They make us smile.”

After cleansing Alicia’s skin and applying a mask (our refining Clear Skin Probiotic Masque is one of The Voice judge’s favorites), Dotti applies our Rosehip & Lemongrass Repair Balm to “up the dewiness of Keys’s skin” (Allure). This ultra-rich balm is infused with rosehip oil to improve the skin’s moisture, tone and texture, as well as lemongrass (a natural astringent) to minimize the appearance of pores, revealing a picture perfect complexion. To complete Alicia’s look, Dotti turns her attention to the star’s lip area, dabbing on a clear balm to keep her pucker perfectly moisturized. She tells Into The Gloss that our three-step Lip Trio Kit does wonders for Alicia’s lips, keeping them deeply hydrated and camera-ready.

Alicia says of embracing her barefaced complexion: “One thing I’ve heard more than ever is this glow that people refer to that I have. I kind of recognize that glow because I’ve begun to listen to myself inside. And I think there’s something really powerful that happens when you start to listen to yourself. It makes you feel more aware. In touch. More confident. …And that’s taken a little minute to arrive at that place. But there’s definitely something powerful about the way your inner feels that reflects on the outer, on your skin. That, to me, is real beauty.” We couldn’t agree more.

We are incredibly proud that Alicia uses Éminence to celebrate her natural beauty. Which Éminence products are part of your makeup-free routine? Tell us in the comments below.
