Spring has sprung and with the cold, dry winter months behind you, it’s time to press the reset button and breathe new life into your complexion. During the spring, the average person’s skin is recovering from a dry, dull complexion brought on by months of cold weather and lack of humidity. During seasonal transitions, even oilier skin types can experience dehydration as well as uncharacteristic redness and flaky patches.
As the weather warms up, our Lead Skin Care Trainer Natalie recommends readjusting and reorganizing your home care routine to balance the new changes you may be experiencing in your complexion.
“One of the greatest ways to get your skin ready for a new season is to bump up your exfoliation at home,” comments Natalie, “You want to introduce different types of treatments or ingredients that will help your skin during this transition phase.”
Step 1 – Cleanse
Cleansing is an essential step to prepare the skin for exfoliation, and the first step towards a glowing springtime complexion. Wash your face with your favorite Éminence cleanser, or cleanse, tone and remove make-up in one step with our Rice Milk 3 in 1 Cleansing Water.
Step 2 – Exfoliate
Once you’ve removed excess makeup and oil from your face, it’s time to exfoliate. Natalie recommends a gentle exfoliant, as most skin types tend to experience increased sensitivities as the seasons change. She also suggests our Calm Skin Chamomile Exfoliating Peel which uses soothing chamomile, calendula and arnica flower to moisturize and soothe the look of redness and reduce the appearance of inflammation.
Step 3 – Treat
Facial oils are an extremely effective way to balance moisture levels and restore your skin’s natural radiance. Natalie is a huge fan of our Facial Recovery Oil. This Éminence cult favorite tones and hydrates the skin with precious herbs and nourishing oils made with Biodynamic® ingredients.
Step 4 – Moisturize + Protect
We recommend wearing SPF all year long but as temperatures rise and sun rays increase in intensity, SPF protection becomes more important than ever. For moisture and sun protection all-in-one, try one of our SPF moisturizers.
